Chapter Two: Diplomacy Titan: Physics by Open High Hat

Niall woke up after not much sleep. His sleep was disrupted by a noise coming from outside his terrarium. He walked to the glass wall and looked out. Naskia had her head down on the desk buried in her arms and was sobbing. Niall wanted to feel sorry for her but he was still feeling very angry over what she had done to him. Niall looked at her desk and saw pages of notes and equations strewn around. He didn’t recognise the language or the symbols but he could clearly recognise the format of mathematical equations.

He banged on the glass trying to get her attention but she couldn’t hear him over the sound of her sobs. “Damn” he said to himself. Niall rushed around the terrarium looking for anything he could use to write on. The only thing that he could use was a 6 foot by 4 foot sandbox. He was unsure what its proper purpose was but it would suit him. He started making note of the various symbols used. “Ok…..mathematics is a universal language. It’s just about figuring out what each symbol means which is just cryptology. You solved the enigma code for fun….you can do this…..”

The sobbing was eventually replaced by light snoring as Naskia cried herself to sleep. Niall worked for hours on end working symbols into various different orders. He wiped out his board and started again many times over. The exhaustion he felt earlier had been replaced by the familiar, mechanistic whir of his mind. Once a puzzle got in there he couldn’t rest until it was solved. He paced the terrarium round and round, wracking his brain over and over trying to find a pattern that worked. The symbols for processes were the easiest to resolve. Once he had those it was only a matter of using calculus to determine what each number meant. He was pleased that the Titans also used decimal based mathematics; it made things a lot easier for him.

After what felt like half a day Niall snapped out of his trance. Written in the sand were the titan symbols and what he believed were the corresponding symbols in numeric. He breathed out a sigh of relief and admired the fruits of his labour. Naskia was still gently snoring away. Niall thought she looked quite sweet and innocent despite her massive size and the assault she’d put him through earlier. There was now nothing but darkness outside and the only light was coming from a small lamp on the desk. He estimated he’d been working for about 12 hours straight.

Now that Niall had translated the symbols he wanted to try to resolve an equation. He copied out one that was visible on a pad on the table. The paper equations were all of Naskia’s flawed attempts so they would be useless to him. It took him no longer than an hour to resolve the equation. Niall could feel his head clouding over from exhaustion. He stood back looking at the completed equation, pondering. Something wasn’t sitting right with him. It felt familiar somehow, like he’d seen it before. Then it hit him. It was remarkably similar to the formula he’d used for the ITER’s new magnetic containment field, only thousands of times more powerful. “If you could get superconductors that powerful you could power the entire planet with the reactor….” He thought.

Then a second realisation hit him. “She’s a nuclear physicist!” he shouted “Ahhh haha! I can prove my abilities to her!” Niall set about writing out the completed equation as best he could in her language in the sand. Exhaustion was getting the better of him and once he had finished he lay back down and fell into a deep sleep.

Naskia woke slowly from her sleep. She lifted her head off the desk taking some scrap paper, attached by drool, with her. “Ewww” she said peeling the paper off her face. She rubbed her stiff neck. It ached from a night spent sleeping at a bad angle. “Argh…..whole night wasted” she said surveying the mess of papers on her desk. She stretched some more raising her arms out as high as she could and twisting her back to and fro. As she did she spotted the terrarium on the shelf. Her heart sunk a little as she remembered the goings on of the night before. “Hopefully me and my new pet can get a fresh start” she thought.

She looked in to the terrarium which was about head height. The little human was still sound asleep. “Awwww….he looks so sweet asleep. What has he been up to? A full night’s sleep for me is more than a day on Earth. No escape attempts I hope….” Naskia looked around the tank but couldn’t see any sign of damage. It didn’t look like any of the equipment had actually been used at all, except the litter tray. “What has he been doing in there……? OH!? What?! How the??” Naskia recognized the equation. It was the one she had spent the last 4 days working on. Only this one was completely solved. She reached in and picked up the litter tray.

She put the litter tray down on the desk accidentally wiping out most of Niall’s work. She reached in to the terrarium and lifted out the tiny, sleeping man. “What the hell….?” Niall muttered rubbing his eyes. Naskia set him down on the desk beside the litter tray.

“The formula in the litter tray! How did it get there?” she demanded, a stern look on her intimidatingly large face.

Niall looked at the tray noticing most of his work had been destroyed. “Litter tray?!? You expect me to defecate into that?” he responded ignoring the original question.

“Never mind that! The answer to the equation I was working on was written in there! Was it like that when I put you in there?” Her voice was getting higher in pitch as she got frustrated with Niall’s evasiveness.

“Of course it wasn’t in there already” he replied. He was ripping up some paper and trying to use it as clothing. Naskia didn’t care she was too focused on the equation. “I translated your language last night and then resolved the equation. It wasn’t hard….” He said lying about the first part.

“I don’t believe you! I can barely get through those formulas; there is no way a human could do it even if it was translated for them!” She reached down and deftly took the paper he had wrapped himself up in, off him knocking him on his ass in the process. “You’re lying….” She said her voice eventually returning to its normal pitch.

“Want me to prove it?” he asked getting back up.

“HA! I don’t know how you got the answer to that but I’d be interested in watching.” Naskia grabbed her pad and scrolled through to find an equation she completed a few days ago. “Do this one….”

“I will, but I’m rather cold and hungry so I’d like some food and clothing.” Niall said examining the equation.

“You have food in your tank. Did you not eat that? And I told you last night, pets don’t wear clothes” Naskia replied somewhat exasperated.

“Pets also don’t do complicated equations for their masters and that paste in there is not food.” Niall sat down and crossed his arms showing he wasn’t going to do anything else until his demands were met.

“Argh, fine! IF you can complete the equation correctly I will get you something to wear.” Naskia replied.

“Permanently?” Niall continued.

“If you can do these equations the last thing I’ll be concerned about is what clothes you wear so we’ll see….”

Niall got to work. Naskia provided him with a blank bit of paper and a graphite stick. Niall was forced to snap the bottom end of it off as it was nearly as tall as he was. Naskia watched him write out something that looked like total nonsense to her on the paper. “This is the equation in my language” Niall explained. Naskia watched as he just stood there, staring at the equation. Occasionally he would make another note or change something. After 15 or so minutes Naskia was getting bored. She couldn’t understand the language Niall was writing in and was convinced he was just messing her around.

She got up and started to unpack her suitcase. She removed her dirty clothes and put away the items she hadn’t used. Niall was too wrapped up in his work to be bothered by all the noise of the Titaness moving around. Once she had tidied everything away she unbuttoned the back of her dress and pulled it off over her head. She then removed the black, balcony bra she was wearing and added it to the laundry pile. “Ahhhh…..soooooo much better” she said rubbing the red marks where the straps had dug into her skin. This Niall did notice. Naskia walked over to the desk and sat down.

Niall tried to look like he was focusing. He did his best not to look up as she hung over him checking on his progress. “What’s wrong? Are you stuck” she asked giggling thinking he’d now been properly caught out.

Niall was unable to pretend any longer as the two humongous breasts floating 20 feet above him shook as she laughed. He liked to think he was above his baser instincts, better than other men but he really wasn’t. “No…..I’m not stuck….just distracted. You people really don’t have a problem with nudity do you?” He asked.

“Oh, I wouldn’t dare do this to any men of my species….it’s ok cuz you’re a…..”

“Pet?” Niall interrupted feeling slightly emasculated.

“There are perks of being a pet” she said lowering her chest to the table and letting her cleavage completely engulf Niall. She thought this may be the best way to bring him around. Niall tried to control himself but quickly found himself with an erection as he stood in the valley between two tits twice the height of him. “Are you sure you don’t want to put the graphite down and join me?” Naskia was looking straight down at Niall in her cleavage. Without waiting for an answer she bit her little finger and then used her other arm to squeeze her breasts to her chest completely engulfing Niall in about 40 tonnes of boob.

Niall wanted to be annoyed but he really couldn’t be. His entire body felt amazing, encased in Naskia’s warm, soft chest. Her soft smell, like raspberries, filled his head. The slow, strong beat of her pulse behind him made him feel oddly at ease. He felt the world shift and shake. He had no idea what was going on and he didn’t really care, he was just enjoying the moment. The world shifted again and he soon found himself lying on his back looking up at the ceiling. He stood up and surveyed his surroundings. Naskia was lying on her bed. He was standing between two breasts that sat the same height as he was. Her sweet face was smiling down at him with a look of mischief he hadn’t seen from her before.

“Arghhhhh!” his mind screamed. He was immensely turned on and wanted to take full advantage of his situation but his pride wouldn’t let him. He would not be used as a toy for some insecure girl’s pleasure. He turned around and started to walk down her sloping rib cage towards her stomach.

Naskia gasped a bit shocked. “…where are you off to?” Naskia called from above.

“Back to my work, I need to focus on it or I will have to start over….” Niall replied hopping down from her tummy to the bed. The 10 foot drop was made a lot easier by the soft mattress below. He knew he needed her to bring him back to the desk so this was more of a symbolic act.

“Y-y-y-you’re actually going to say no to me?” Naskia looked upset.

Niall didn’t know if it was the fact that her tyre sized eyes magnified the effect of her cuteness or if he actually felt bad for rejecting her advances. “Look, walking away from you there was really tough. You are without doubt one of the most spectacular looking women I’ve ever laid eyes on. Even if you were human I’d think you were beautiful.” Naskia turned bright red, her eyes were welling up. “But I will not be used in this way. I’m fully aware you can do what you like with me and I couldn’t stop you but I will fight you and I will scream and then you would have to live with the guilt of what you had done. If it was my choice, as an equal, then we’ll see.”

“What if I promised you’d have just a good time as I did….?” Naskia asked with a come hither tone.

“No, it has to be as equals and until you accept that I will always say no” Niall lifted his arms out to let her know he wanted picked up “It’s your choice. Take me back to the table so I can finish this equation and show you I’m just as intelligent as you or abuse me for your own pleasure”

Naskia scooped Niall up with 2 fingers beneath his arms and brought him to her face. She was focusing on his face intensely, more than any time since he woke up with her. It made Niall very uncomfortable. Naskia’s conscience got the better of her. “Errrrgh fine! You’re manipulative, you know that!”

Naskia stood up and carried him towards the desk. Niall looked down, awestruck by the jiggling breasts below him. “Oi! Eyes up mister! If you’re gonna act like this then you don’t get any benefits of being a pet.” She deposited him on the desk on his notes and stormed off to get a robe. She was acting like she was annoyed but Niall sensed she wasn’t actually annoyed. She slumped down into her chair and folded her arms across her chest looking huffy. “Well get on with it then!” she ordered. Niall got back to the equation and didn’t notice the smile creeping across Naskia’s face.

Niall was right. Naskia was not annoyed. She was watching the little human work away, completely fascinated. The main emotion she was feeling right now was confusion. Was this human able to do high level equations that most Titans wouldn’t understand? How was he able to upset her and get under her skin so easily? Why could she not bring herself to punish him? Did something in her accept his claims to be equal with her? She chastised herself. “I’d be a complete laughing stock if people knew I’d been rejected by a human…..” she thought to herself. She looked down to see Niall finish writing out the results of his work out in the Titan language.

Naskia picked up the paper and examined it. It didn’t take her long to confirm the results were correct. She was dumbstruck. “How did he do this…..?” She thought to herself. Niall was looking up at her waiting for a response. He looked far too pleased with himself. He was 100% confident he was right. Naskia got up and walked to a cupboard on the other side of the room and removed a small set of laser cutters. She cut some strips out of her robe. One nearly twice the length of Niall and one very thin strip about half his height. She cut a hole in the middle of the bigger strip and brought it over to the table.

Niall couldn’t see what Naskia was up to on the other side of the room. He heard a high pitched whining noise coming from her intermittently. He guessed given her lack of response that it was either very good for him or very bad. Naskia soon got up and walked back over to him. He noticed she’d cut a big chunk out of her robe by her leg. Naskia dropped 2 bits of cloth down beside him. “Here….we don’t have clothes for humans so this will have to do” she said and sat down looking dazed. “It took me nearly a day to resolve that and you did it before breakfast. How can you do that?! Most Titans couldn’t do that!” Her voice had gone up in pitch again and was starting to hurt Niall’s ears because of the volume.

Niall pulled his new robe over his head. He got a wave of Naskia’s soft scent as he breathed in. He tied up the robe which ended up halfway down his shins and smiled up at her. “Comfy” he said deliberately avoiding answering.

“Seriously…answer me!” Naskia was starting to get annoyed and her voice got even higher. Her face was flushed red with confusion and frustration. Niall was enjoying this far too much. He always loved showing off just how smart he was, he was particularly enjoying someone who had tried to make him her pet asking to know how he was so much smarter than her.

“I know it because I’m a genius. Most humans wouldn’t be able to work out those equations. A lot could with time, just like you can. But there’s a few of us who have been gifted amazing minds and we can just do things faster.” Niall said. His look started out as smug but it eventually faded into a hard seriousness.

“But this is advanced physics! Far beyond what humans are capable of” Naskia replied “When I learned about Earth in school your people were busy killing yourselves with primitive projectile weapons!”

Niall grinned “We’ve come a long way since then. That equation I solved last night while you were asleep. I know it’s used as the magnetic containment for a nuclear fusion reaction.”

“How could you possibly know that?!” Naskia shouted getting more and more exasperated with Niall’s cryptic answers.

Niall didn’t reply. He picked up his graphite stick and started to write out an equation. It was similar to the equation she had been working on but the values were not as high. “I came up with this equation a few months ago. Last week we successfully used it to create a new magnetic containment field for one of humankind’s first fusion reactors. If we had superconductors that could do what your equation required then we probably would have discovered it too” Niall said feeling rather proud “And there hasn’t been a global conflict on Earth in over 60 years. Your Earth history is clearly out of date.

Naskia didn’t reply. The colour had drained from her face. “You…you built a fusion reactor?” Naskia said

“Yeah, a stable one too. Not quite economically viable but a few more tweaks and it will be able to power an entire city” Niall replied looking smug again.

“What other things have humans done?” Naskia asked. She was getting curious now.

“Well we split the atom about 70 years ago, anyone can go anywhere on the planet in a matter of hours using air travel, we mapped our genome, built an interconnected global network of computers that stores almost the entire knowledge of humanity, landed a man on the moon, put hundreds of space craft into orbit. This month an unmanned probe left our solar system for the first time.”

Naskia sat in silence for a minute. It was a lot to take in. Most Titans assumed that wild humans were primitive and brutal but it sounded like they’d massive advances within the last few years. She lowered her hand to Niall and extended her pinky “It’s nice to meet you Dr Freeman” she said.

Niall took her pinky in his hand and shook it back. “Please, call me Niall” he smiled.
